The Starry Love: Dad Ranking

Earlier I ranked the shitty dads in The Starry Love from least worst to Please Die Now, but that was when the drama was only a little over halfway through. Now it is done, I am amending the rankings accordingly:

- Beast King - No change. He did try to have his son arrested (though to be fair his son did crash an important diplomatic event & nearly triggered a war). But he helped set him up with a cute princess. And he disobeyed the Heavenly Emperor’s command & helped his son’s friends escape instead of capturing them. Also, listens to his wife. Continued to be the best dad.

- Human Emperor - Started out the worst, but got way better. Okay, he had less a redemption arc & more a redemption yeet. But after that point he made up for his shittyness by offering Yetan his full support. She tells him she’s off to murder the Heavenly Emperor & not only does he give her his backing but his only concern about her course of action is regarding her safety.

- Void Tyrant - On the plus side he let Qingkui set up a hospital. But he also massacred an entire clan except for one he kept around as a fucktoy, tried to use the end of the world as a distraction for starting shit, ordered the execution of his son & his son’s gf wife, & he refused to love Chaofeng even when his life literally depended on it.

- Heavenly Emperor - The absolute worst. Treated his eldest son as a weapon & refused to let him be resurrected on account that he might gain an actual personality. And then the moment he got the chance, he erased his son’s memory to have him go back to being a puppet, just to prop up his own position, even going so far as to send him to fight his own wife. His wife divorced him, his children left, & his army let an enemy into the Heavenly Realm because fuck you actually & he still wouldn’t take a hint. They tried to have him give a half-arsed apology riiiiiight at the end, but it was so fucking weak.

I can’t rank the mothers though. They’re all absolute queens who will do anything for their babies (yes even Void Empress - the fact that her baby is evil is irrelevant). Sure, they all go about that in different ways, but the approaches they take work for them & I can’t pick a winner here
