Summary: Who is Kylo Ren?

Ben Solo, beloved son of Han Solo & Leia Organa, has a happy childhood, if a little lonely. And then one day he goes missing. His family is devastated & searches desperately, but no trace is ever found.

Years later, Kylo Ren, a man with no past, serves the First Order loyally. He has never known anything else. And yet, if that's so, why does he wake up with half remembered dreams of places he has never been, & flashes of memories that cannot be his?

Summary: Kylo Ren is forced to flee the First Order when Hux stages a coup, but any hope he might have had of reconciling with Rey is dashed when his former troops move on the Resistance, wiping them out. Unable to sense Rey in the Force (& so believing her dead), he vows revenge & declares war on the whole First Order, with the help of only a very confused Resistance technician, a couple of droids, & some porgs.

OR: Kylo Ren goes on a rollicking revenge rampage against a whole army & somehow becomes the new face of the Resistance as a result. BB-8 is so done. R2-D2 is even more done. Rose Tico isn't sure she signed up for this shit. But at least the porgs are happy.

I just spent over an hour peering at a map of the Star Wars galaxy & doing maths for the sake of getting a detail right in a fic. Because it turned out I blithely picked two planets on opposite sides of the bloody place & I’m committed to getting details right & I apparently hate myself or something.

All those fancy people in ads using their Surface devices for creating swish architectural plans & 3D graphics & I’m here plotting out the route between Ahch-To & Cantonica, carefully measuring it with the ruler, & trying to work out how long it’d take to get from one to the other.

3.33 days, If you were wondering. Though it’d probably be more because that assumes a straight route & they’d be going via hyperspace lanes…
